Take Part in a Research Study

Do you want to take part in one of our research studies? Take a look below to see how you or your child can get involved.

We are currently recruiting participants for the following studies:

  1. Outcomes of childhood epilepsy survey (complete online)

  2. Sleep and cognition in children with or without Tourette syndrome or ADHD (complete expression of interest form to receive a study pack in the post)

  3. Online cognitive tasks for children aged 8 to 12 (complete online)

See below for further details on each study!

Outcomes of Childhood Epilepsy Study

The UCD Neuropsychology Lab, in conjunction with Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street, are running a research study to learn more about long-term outcomes of childhood epilepsy in Ireland and the UK.

We are looking for adults who experienced epilepsy during childhood, and one of their siblings, to complete our online survey. The survey is entirely anonymous and should only take 15 minutes to complete.

Sleep and cognition in children aged 8 to 12 with or without Tourette syndrome and/or ADHD

The TIC-ToCS project is looking for children aged between 8 and 12 living in Ireland to take part in an exciting research study about sleep and cognition!

We are inviting expressions of interest from parents of:

1) Children with no history of neurological or developmental disorders or

2) Children with a diagnosis of Tourette syndrome and/or ADHD.

Taking part involves children wearing a wristwatch for one to two weeks, which measures daytime activity and sleep at night. Parents are asked to complete a sleep diary and some questionnaires. At the end of the study, children play two short online games. No travel is required to take part in this study – we will deliver all materials to your home.

Online cognitive tasks for children aged 8 to 12

The TIC-ToCS project is looking for children aged 8 to 12 living in Ireland to take part in an online research study about sleep and cognition.

We need a large sample of children with no history of neurological or developmental disorders to complete two online tasks that assess cognitive skills. This will allow us to understand how typically-developing children tend to perform on these tasks, which will then inform future research studies.

Note that this study must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer.
